We first met in 2015 at Western Michigan University, where we had a class together and shared a mutual friend. That friend eventually brought us together at a birthday party, and from that night on, being around each other just felt natural.
Life took us in different directions, and after Kayla left Western, we stayed in touch over the years. In December 2023, while Kayla was living in Florida, Ante reached out knowing she’d be home for the holidays and hoping we could reconnect. The timing didn’t quite work out, so Kayla suggested he come to Florida instead, thinking there was no way he would actually book a flight. A few days later, he texted his flight info.
When Ante came to visit in early February 2024, it felt like we were 19 all over, everything clicked. We made long-distance work, flying between Florida and Illinois, until September 2024 when Kayla finally returned to the Midwest. We’ve been building our life together ever since, and we couldn’t be happier.
Ante proposed at Kayla’s family 4th of July party, surrounded by the people we love. Now, we cannot wait to celebrate the next chapter together with all of you!
